Thoroughly enjoying the making of this piece, it reminded me of my relationship with the mythological Goddess Nut and how during the pandemic her presence helped me through the darkest of times. It fascinates me that mythic figures who hold both light and dark qualities can be like friends to us when we need to draw upon their strength. She was a symbol of protection.
This artwork is more a piece of jewellery for the home or space rather than the body. A reminder that we are protected by spirits, realms, the unconscious in ways we cannot see. That we can find comfort in the spiritual if we are open to this.
I am very grateful to this Goddess for helping me to get through the hardest time in my career. Did you create any symbols to get you through? Did you connect to a figure from the past or mythology? Who inspires you now? How could you create a relationship with them?
