As I painted this piece, I was struck by the great circle of trust surrounding the Nativity. Mary placed her whole heart in God’s plan, trusting Him with faith and humility. Christ trusted His mother’s love and tender care, and above all trusted His Father’s will in coming to earth. And God, in turn, trusted His beloved Son to fulfill a mission of love and redemption. This painting is my reflection on that sacred trust, and the way it calls us to place our trust and love in God and Christ, embracing Their plan of happiness and salvation.
