This coin was originally minted in the Holy Land between 103 - 76 BCE and survives with much of the original art and inscriptions still visible, despite its patina and wear. The irregular shape is typical for this coinage. The prutah coin is associated with the widow's mite story (Mark 12:41–44, Luke 21:1–4).
