This is an earlier piece where I experimented with a more limited use of the paint to expose larger areas of the fabric. You can easily see the sweater, jeans, sock, and fabric scraps. It was one of the last works I made with the crushed can theme. A hole in the sweater exposes the plywood backing. The black spray paint on top of the white latex paint gives the work some depth while also exposing the texture of the weave. The pairing of the alcoholic beverage with the easily identifiable soda brand has a portrait-like feel. Together, all these things form a mysterious story. As with most of the titles I assign to my work, there is an element of humor without giving away too much of the painting’s personal meaning.
