This is an early work where I began experimenting with painting on clothing. In this case, it was using cut open old socks, exposing the fuzzy terry cloth like interior. It makes an interesting under-painting surface.
The expression reflects my attitude towards the unhealthy aspects of smoking. The splashing of the white paint representing the mouth perfectly expresses that attitude. The playfulness of the execution contrasting with the seriousness I feel about how unhealthy smoking conveys what I was wanting without beating the viewer up.
