Geoff Cunningham
Scotchmer Street by Geoff Cunningham Image: This is a scene based on a photo I took in Scotchmer Street in Fitzroy North, Melbourne. I love the bohemian feel of this suburb - there is often something unexpected if you take the time to stop and look.
What I have always loved about stencil artwork is that the detail is not always needed, as the human brain automatically fills in the gaps, therefore engaging the viewer in the painting without realising it. In this series, I have “feathered” the edges of the paintings, like you’re remembering the scene from a dream or memory.
