Acrylic on canvas, the edges are painted white and is ready to hang.
This is an everyday scene taken from a photo I took of Gertrude Street in Fitzroy, Melbourne.
I wanted to strip back my realistic style and become a bit looser, without sacrificing my trademark stencil technique. I decided that I would create an abstract background and then apply my stencil artwork over the top, whilst also trying to limit the amount of layers and detail. What I have always loved about stencil artwork is that the detail is not always needed, as the human brain automatically fills in the gaps, therefore engaging the viewer in the painting without realising it.
