Gail Hoban
Saffron Walden, Essex
Gail draws trees, lichen, fungi and native wild plants and the resilience of overlooked nature with a ballpoint pen to communicate about land and nature access.
MessageSo many of our woodlands are now sold off to private landowners as investment. How can a complex natural habitat be an investment for either a corporate business or a single human family? Surely there should be shared responsibility for our natural surroundings.
The focus of this ballpoint pen drawing is to draw attention to the communication preventing us from accessing nature in the many private woodlands in the UK. The manmade sign is stark and bold within the image, rendered in green ballpoint to contrast against the nature drawn in complex black lines.
