- Malaika Favorite
The artist Malaika Favorite believes that senior citizens are the cornerstones of the community; indeed, the community would not exist if it weren’t for their sacrifices and contributions. Her series of paintings, executed in an array of rich colors, are meant to lift the spirits of all who enter the building, to serve as a reminder to senior citizens that they deserve a time to celebrate life and to commemorate the struggles and triumphs of previous generations. Working with an advisory committee, the artist collected from the senior's photographs, quotations, and other mementos that were incorporated into the paintings. Her paintings serve as a living record and help to establish a sense of history and community in the senior center.
