I've been saving the reference photo for this piece for a few years, waiting until I felt I could do it justice. The reference was taken from a riverboat cruise on a trip to New Orleans several years ago. The darkening sky and glowing sunset contrasted against the silhouette of the the working waterfront and water reflections cried out for a painting that I was finally ready to tackle.
