Fair Hill Nature Center has a number of interesting places to paint. Horses at the track, the grandstands, streams, and a covered bridge. This time I selected the old Yellow Barn just up the hill from the bridge. A combination of interesting angles, the light hitting the side of the barn and the deep shadows inside the lean to’s were all perfect for a painting. Not so perfect was the parking lot immediately in front of the barn, so I placed fields and a path in the foreground instead harking back to the days when the barn was in operation.
