I have only been to NYC once. Teresa and I met up with our daughter Caitlin who was studying for a semester at Slippery Rock University in Pennsylvania. More by luck than anything else we decided to stay at the Box House Hotel in Brooklyn.
I didn’t find much to like in Central New York, but I liked Brooklyn.
I found the architecture, particularly the ubiquitous ‘Brooklyn brownstones’, provided lots of inspiration and painted a whole sequence of them on my return.
They proved very popular but as the experience faded, so did the inspiration.
However, for no particular reason, I had another go at a new version last week, which featured the classic yellow taxi (think Di Nero in Taxi Driver) which the Hotel provided as a courtesy car for residents.
So you can imagine my surprise when I saw this feature in my Saturday Guardian.
Once you’re cool, you stay cool!😎
