Alabaster is a fun, colorful, and easy stone to carve. Again, having no vision, I started smoothing out this chunk of rock you see in the slide show, and Flame showed up. I really wanted to keep the rough natural untouched part of the stone but as it goes, Flame kept coming out.
I was so pleased when three of my stone pieces were accepted in the Gilpin Annual Juried Art Show: Flame, Horse Flower, and Fan Shell. I was delighted when Flame won 2nd Place in the 3D category.
