This portrait is part of a series of portraits depicting my teenagers. The scene manages to pack so much into one image if you know what to look for. On the surface it is the first portrait of my son after getting his first pair of glasses at 15 years old. This metaphor of clearer vision was not lost on me as I positioned him to be gazing out a window. His is full of youthful male arrogance but I know how much is yet to become clear to him. He is seated nonchalantly in front of a bookcase full of stories created and those yet to be written. The box of tissues may be too blatant but I am finding these years to be full of tears, his and mine. The title is based on the frame hanging behind him that functions as a halo of sorts. He is becoming his own person but he will always be my baby boy.
This piece is professionally framed in a black float frame and ready to hang.
