Mountain Ash / Luis II
This series draws on the ancient Celtic Ogham alphabet, in which each letter is a tree. Each painting carries the spirit of its tree into contemporary form through abstraction, collage, and North American roots.
The second Luis painting moves in close. Branches weave across a deep teal ground, red berries abundant and immediate, soft spiral forms turning below like fallen fruit. Where Luis I stands back and surveys, Luis II immerses — you are inside the tree.
