Elaine Almond
Sevenoaks, Kent
award winning intuitive abstract artist, painting in acrylics, oils and inks. Art teacher and part-time lay minister.
MessageColourful, spiritual, sometimes quirky, and inspired by nature and life experiences, Elaine Almond paints expressively in acrylics, inks, uses collage and occasionally oils. She is an intuitive artist and teacher, who loves colour alongside abstract and semi-abstract forms. A former psychotherapist, she sees art as a means of self-expression and emotional connection, and is interested in how ideas and feelings translate onto the canvas and how this affects the individual. Paintings are multi-layered, in series with a common colour palette or theme.
Elaine works from her studio in Borough Green, West Kent, UK, exhibits locally, around the south east, and at national art fairs. She offers individual and group art classes. She is a member of the Pure Arts Group, Visual Artists Association, Sevenoaks Visual Arts Forum, and is registered with Art Profile (www.artprofile.co.uk) as a tutor. Since November 2022 she has been an Area Coordinator for South East Open Studios. Her work is in private collections in the UK, Eire, Canada and Costa Rica.
In December 2025 she was given an award of excellence for Vibrant and Unique Abstract Artist of the year 2026/7 by The Art Focus, an e-magazine in Warwickshire UK. 2024 saw her as a Finalist in the Visual Art Open Competition and Scholarship for new and emerging artists, Longlisted again in 2025 and in the VAA Artist of the Year 2024, and exhibited in the ING Discerning Eye Open Call in 2023 in London. In 2025 she has had several exhibitions, last in November '25, sharing with artist Sheila Nash, at the Spa Galleries Tunbridge Wells, where you can also see some of her paintings. A few pieces are in the New Art Gallery Eastbourne also.
