2024 Open to the Elements

A collection of abstracted seascapes mostly painted in an art residency at Brisons Veor, Cape Cornwall, Cornwall UK during a raging storm April 2024. I was seeking to transmit the feelings of being swept up in the power of wind and waves. It was mesmorizing to watch and exciting to paint, and can express how at times in our lives we are caught in things bigger than ourselves, and can only watch in amazement or tremble in awe and fear.

Sea & Coast

A collection of acrylic paintings and ink sketches done during the long 2 years of lockdown. I had fun imagining the sea when it was impossible to travel. I drew the shoreline with inks and twigs for the same reason and eventually I went and sketched on the Rye Harbour Nature Reserve to my great delight too.

2023 Jug Speak

A series of ink sketches of jugs from my kitchen cupboard. They were done for fun and came to life in the process, so that captions were added a couple of days later - all about life and relationships in effect. They are professionally framed in black with low reflective glass.

Abstract paintings

Find out the story behind each one of these! Some were created alone and others as a group.

2023 Seeing the Unseen - Hearing the Unspoken

This series of 4 paintings were completed between March and May 2023 after 2 days spent in Wells cathedral, reflecting on all that is seen and unseen in an ancient place of worship. I wandered around with my sketch book and camera and recorded many parts of that amazing building which has stood for over 1000 years. The shapes derive from sketches and photos of the cathedral and its architecture, which is inspiring but it also offers a welcome to visitors, even a dog at Communion. I wonder what such buildings evoke in you? I have more to paint from my 2 days there.
Two of these: New Chapter & Hidden Teasure can now be viewed in the Chapel of Townsend Church of England Secondary Scholl, St Albans, Herts, UK

Abstracted Landscapes including Free to Roam

Walk around and feel the landscape in your breath and in your bones

2025 Four Seasons

Paintings to reflect the seasons of the year. At least two were painted to Vivaldi's very evocative music with colours reflecting the time of year. Bright reds & yellows, pinks and creams and later autumnal hues of browns and deeper yellow. Spring is 76 x 76cm, the remainder smaller. -see individual paintings for exact measurements
2025: after a long break I have begun to add to this collection as the hot summer has brought out wonderful colours again.

Ink works on paper

A collection of ink sketches begun at home during the 2021 Lockdown using twigs and small brushes, and subsequently developed for plein air work in Kent & Sussex -but could be anywhere, Now working on abstract works in ink too.
