Ruth Bader Ginsburg was a lawyer and jurist who served as an associate justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Before joining the Supreme Court, she played a pivotal role in dismantling gender-based discrimination through strategic legal advocacy. As co-founder of the ACLU Women’s Rights Project, she carefully selected cases to build a legal foundation for gender equality. RBG’s approach was methodical—she believed in incremental change; she deliberately chose cases where male plaintiffs were discriminated against to highlight how gender-based laws harmed everyone. This tactic made it harder for the all-male Supreme Court to dismiss her arguments. Her work laid the foundation for women’s legal rights in the U.S. RBG once said: "I ask no favor for my sex. All I ask of our brethren is that they take their feet off our necks."
