Mark Rothko was a painter most famously known for his abstract canvases featuring blocks of radiating color. He was deeply interested in death, joy, existential angst, sensuality, gloom, grief, calm, tension, irony, and beyond. He committed suicide at age 66. I appreciate the breadth of his interests, his dissatisfaction with much of his world, and his search for a meaningful life.
