MessageDvorah Kaufman is a fiber artist and retired pediatric nurse practitioner. She began sewing in1975 but truly began her growth as an artist 20 years later when she began experimenting with fiber art as a medium, turning quilts into stories, landscapes and thread paintings. She works with commercial and hand dyed fabrics, a variety of threads, fibers, buttons and beads, personally dying many of her materials. Her work has been exhibited at art shows and galleries throughout the Midwest and she is one of the gallery artists at the ArtBeat Gallery in Hayward, Wisconsin. She is a member of the Madison Contemporary Fiber Artists and was a member of Women's Journeys in Fiber, a group of textile artists from the Chicago area. Her work has been published in two books, Masks: Disguise, Expose and Celebrate, 2014 and Umbrellas: Open to Ideas, 2015. An art quilt, Mend a Heart ...Pass it On was selected for an American Quilters Society Calendar. She has participated in three fiber art collaborations The Art Doll Project, The Bag Ladies and The Mad Hatters. She also works as a docent at the Madison Contemporary Art Museum.
