There is a rare moment during a total solar eclipse when the moon is just barely shy of completely covering the sun. Enough sunlight is blocked to see the prominences and solar flares on the solar limb. The contrast with a bit of full surface light results in a radiant flare that, coupled with the light leaking around the moon's disk, resembles a diamond wedding ring. Hence, the proposal.
