“Winter Raven.” Last March or early April, I spent a week at Malheur National Wildlife Refuge in Eastern Oregon. It would snow in the morning then clear in the afternoon for glorious vistas all the way to the Steen Mountains. Then as the sun went down, the snow began again. I was walking the periphery of the MNWR headquarters in that instant between snow and light and met this Lady Raven ruffling her feathers in the falling snow. She reminds me to love that place between weather, between seasons, and between waking and the sudden beautiful dream.
