Āku Maunga Haere 'My Travelling Mountains'. This is the first work from a series of works looking at the loss of land, water, forest and minerals resources for ngā tāngata whenua 'the indigenous people of Aotearoa'. While mountains, like Tokatoka in the Northland region, travel by night in Māori cosmologies the implication here is that there has since the 19th century been a corporate raiding of the resources of this country that continues unabated by Corporate companies and business 24/7 well into the present twenty first century. Many of Aotearoa most precious resources, including our taonga, human and resources are heading overseas. I explored this kaupapa again in another triptych of the same name which I showed initially briefly at the book launch for MAORI ART, Te Uru, Waitākere Contemporary Art Gallery, Titirangi in 2015 and more recently at my ongoing exhibition inside the whare wānanga Kupe Waka Centre outside Taipa, 2022-2024
