Douglas Gilbert creates graphite and charcoal drawings that explore perception, spatial tension, and the gradual emergence of form through line.
MessageAcross the surface, I work through varying densities of line that cross the page, creating a low, persistent instability. Looming forms gather at the edges, revealing a path that begins to open at the center. As the viewer looks, these forms shift, suggesting possible figures or spaces that never fully settle.
