Douglas Gilbert creates graphite and charcoal drawings that explore perception, spatial tension, and the gradual emergence of form through line.
MessageThis work opens into a more dispersed field, where forms appear fragmented and separated across the surface. The path extends forward but feels less contained, interrupted by smaller accumulations that suggest distant structures or figures. I’m interested in how space can remain open and unresolved, where the image holds a sense of distance shaped by memory rather than clarity.
