Oil painter of over 50 years capturing that space between earth and sky where all living creatures call home.

Looking up through a tangle of branches toward the open sky shifts how we perceive our place in the world. My current paintings explore this specific, vertical vantage point—the transitional realm of birds, clouds, and shifting light. Working with oil on canvas and wood panels, the focus is on creating a sense of grounded immersion. The goal is to collapse the distance between the viewer and the canvas, inviting a physical recollection of what it feels like to lie on one’s back and look straight up into the atmosphere.
By anchoring the compositions with the heavy geometry of the tree canopy against the fluid expanse of blue and white, the work balances weight and weightlessness. This dialogue between the wood or canvas substrate and the open air mimics our own relationship with the earth. Ultimately, these paintings serve as quiet entry points back into the natural environment, offering a space to breathe and look upward.
