The Guam Kingfisher, also known as Sihek, is a bird species that is currently listed as extinct in the wild. A major factor in their extinction was the introduction of the brown tree snake to Guam, which preyed heavily on the kingfishers. A recovery program is underway, with captive breeding and reintroduction efforts on Palmyra Atoll, which is a predator-free environment. Framed in an ornately gilded gold wooden frame.
