Regressence is a series which explores the loss of value in things which at once seem so important and trivial in our distracted lifestyles in the modern world. Nutrition, currency, relationships; all are eventually taken for granted. Each hover in place for a moment, suspended by hope alone, waiting for the respect and attention they deserve before falling away into oblivion. Each image is painted in oil with high-gloss effect against an uncanny field of black acrylic formulated to absorb 99 percent of light, rendering the surface invisible. The illusion of objects floating in an infinite black space is achieved even in the brightest gallery lighting. The works are identically presented with integral wooden box framed, wired on back for hanging.
