The idea of multi-layered observation is demonstrated in the work:' Sharp-Eyed Portrait of the Place' , with emphasis on the anthropomorphic view—the personification of morphology. In the original map, drawn spring-like signs call to mind a pair of eyes, gazing at the viewer from within the map. Its outlined route, which follows past paths that have turned into dust, is interpreted through an attempt to hold onto the "wings of history." The bottom spiral imprinted on the ground attests to the ecological violation that accelerates the processes of collapse caused by the sinkholes. As a marker of hope, an upper pupil opens near the shoreline. It is a computerized drawing of the DNA double helix which carries the genetic code necessary for the continued existence of mankind. The virtue of reconstruction, and transmutation needed for the place, was achieved by working on brass metaphorically as an alchemical process. The work was created in a technique which makes the "body" of the surface emanate alchemically, as it were. The raw metal underwent transformation. The creation of the images on the brass plate was achieved by paint, collage with photography and by scorching with acids.
