'Still Life on the Etching Press' is one of two reduction woodcuts depicting interior scenes, both featuring artists' studios. This reduction woodcut shows a still life on an etching press, as the title suggests. On the press bed of Don's American French Tool Etching Press is a large blue fish and a sizable one-clawed lobster shell on a platter. Beneath the platter is a red Kilim. You can see the press's pressure gauge, the heavy steel roller, and on the far side of the press is the large handwheel that moves the press bed under the steel roller. In the background, there is a leaning fishing pole and a Springer Spaniel asleep on the parquet floor.
