- From Waiting for Fritz
Waiting for Fritz is another Gorvett woodcut that can be viewed through a Gothic lens. Fritz Rickor was a friend of Don's and an artist who retired to Cape Neddick, ME. He lived in the small neighborhood next to the Cliff House Hotel. When Fritz was traveling, Don would feed his cats in the evening. The moonlit sky reflects off the ocean behind the tree outside. This is one of two reduction woodcuts that are of an interior setting.
