- From Galleon Mayflower in Drydock "Mayflower II on the Ways"
While the vessel Mayflower II was being refitted in Gloucester at the Rocky Neck Marine Railway, Don made several drawings. Years later, Don used these drawings and notes to create the reduction woodcut in his Ogunquit, Maine, studio. The 'Mayflower II on the Ways,' along with its unique two-sided woodblock, is part of the Cape Ann Museum collection in Gloucester, MA. The opposite side of the woodblock features the remaining template for the reduction woodcut 'Copper Paint Factory.'
