Downtown Girl

In painting this piece, I brought the light from a different side of the painting from where one might imagine it to be. This downtown girl is not feeling the light from her urban environment. To the contrary, she is feeling trapped by her circumstances. Yet, she can feel light coming from another source.

All she needs to do is turn around and go in a different direction to begin an entirely different future, full of possibilities and fulfilled dreams.

Sometimes all it takes is faith to move mountains that we think could never be moved. By taking that first step in faith and true belief, we can often experience a richer, fuller life.

Life is a delicate balance of light and darkness, beauty and chaos. Embrace it all. Keep hope alive.
