In my collection of Mandalas, I have two on a peach-colored hand-painted fabric. The Gold Wheel is a strong wheel design where I emphasized the circle using gold braid all around joining the arrowheads, and gold ribbon for spokes. This design is somewhat different than others, where I have used a complete drum image in the center. The dark brown area is leather, and it adds to the overall texture of the art quilt. Here I wanted the white feather to take a central role, again, symbolizing North American Indian culture. Feathers are still used today in the ceremonial dances of the various tribes.
