The photos in the art quilt represent my journey from the U.S. back to my native country and hometown. After many years of studying and living abroad, it was time for me to return to my roots. The moving process was not an easy one and I needed to express this somehow in my art. I took photos from both places, printed them on fabric, fused them onto a hand painted background and embellished it with some hand embroidery. It’s a very personal artwork obviously and I’m pleased how it turned out. The most unusual thing about the pictures is that the photo fabric became see-through when fused down to the background. It’s not so clear at first but studying the design for a few moments it becomes one can see the painted curves through the photo.
