Maine  landscapes and seascapes are paintings created  both in the studio and plein air. Whether working in the studio or outdoors, all my paintings stem from direct visual observation. I work with traditional watercolors on cotton rag paper, as well as on watercolor on wood, aluminum, and clay board. In some pieces, watercolor grounds or textured materials create textural under paintings. Many of my watercolor landscapes are mounted and sealed with fixative and wax, allowing them to be framed without glass. Maine landscape paintings are also created with Cobra water-mixable oils on clay board, copper panels, and oil paper—these oils are particularly well-suited for outdoor painting during Maine winters.
