My work is completely achieved with glass, which I build up in layers with multiple firings in a 1,500 degree kiln, no paints or other materials are used. I’m drawn to the translucence of glass. Like water and eyes, glass has depth, and mystery; we look into it...through it. My narrative work manipulates these qualities to explore the human gaze. I use faces to suggest myths and stories from around the world. I am intrigued by our fascination with faces. We draw conclusions about beauty, gender, ethnicity and social roles in the blink of an eye. We try not to make assumptions, but we are all story tellers at heart. The completed story always happens in the mind of the viewer.
Glass panels can also hung two inches from the wall on stainless steel L-hooks . This allows the glass to capture reflected light and cast colored shadows onto the wall.
