I’m putting the final touches on my newest painting, Juno's Counsel "Between Love and Glory." 🎨✨
This isn’t the usual story of Mars and Juno his mother. I decided to paint Juno as an older woman—representing wisdom and experience—saying goodbye to the young, strong Mars as he leaves for war. It’s a personal piece for me about the passage of time and the hard choice between staying in the comfort of love or following the call of duty.
If you look closely at the top right, you’ll see Pegasus waiting to lead him to victory. I really enjoyed working on the decorative details in this one. It’s part of my Tarot series, capturing that difficult moment of making a life-changing choice.
I’d love to hear what you think of this interpretation!

In this painting, I wanted to reimagine the classic story of Mars and Venus to say something personal about time and letting go. Mars is the young, beautiful soldier ready to rush off to war, while Venus is shown as an older woman with gray hair. In a way, she represents me. I am looking at that youthful energy and handsome strength, knowing I have to say goodbye to it as I get older. Up in the right corner, you will see the winged horse, Pegasus. I used an etching for him and softened the colors so he wouldn't take over the scene, but he is there to promise victory. He represents the glory that Mars is chasing as he leaves the comfort of love behind.
This piece belongs to my Tarot series, fitting right in the space between the fifth card, which represents tradition and rules, and the sixth card, "The Lovers," which is all about choices. I wanted to capture the moment where duty clashes with love. Mars is choosing his loyalty to his country over staying with Venus, a difficult choice that defines a true hero. The decorative patterns around them celebrate this sacrifice, making the moment feel grand and important. It is my way of showing that while young love is beautiful, the wisdom to let someone go to follow their own path is a different, deeper kind of love.
