(Narrative Version)
Rescued from a sinking ship, a monkey clung to the back of a swift and generous dolphin. As the waves carried them toward land, the dolphin asked, "Are you from this city?" The monkey, always eager to appear grander than he was, boasted, "Oh yes! I come from a noble family, and I know all the most important people."
The dolphin, growing suspicious, inquired, "Then you must know Piraeus?" The monkey, unwilling to admit ignorance, declared, "Of course! He’s one of my dearest friends!"
With a knowing smirk, the dolphin flipped his body, sending the monkey tumbling into the water. "A little wisdom might have saved you," the dolphin murmured as he swam away, leaving the monkey to learn a harsh truth: empty boasts drown quickly.
