Even though I paint abstract, I often feel that my paintings are representational in a certain way, some more, some less. They radiate something, bring back memories of moments and feelings or just fantasies of it. This little one does this very strongly. While I was painting, a sentence from Kurt Tucholsky's poem "The Fifth Season" was running through my head: "Und eines Morgens riechst Du den Herbst" (translated literally "and one morning you smell autumn."). I see and feel fog, water, maybe a river landscape, it's slowly getting colder, all is golden, and in the morning it smells damp and ripe. The cycle of nature, of life, is coming to an end - and we know that next year everything will awaken again. This is "MORNING MIST & AUTUMN SELL", I hope you love it as much as I do!
