Christy Long x
ᎦᎸᎶᎢ GALVLOI “Christy Long” is proud of her heritage and passionate about creating art forms that can be appreciated in relation to both expressive and social contexts. Her skill and knowledge in time-honored cultural craftsmanship have been practiced and handed down to her for generations. As a member of the Eastern Band of Cherokee Indians, she thrives on building stronger connections between her art forms and the larger human issues that affect Indigenous communities and global society. She cherishes the collaborative process to gain perspective, share insight, inspiration, wisdom, knowledge and considers it her calling to combat stereotypes through the creative art forms that can be shared with positivity and respect to a living culture.
Long’s works have been showcased at the National Museum of the American Indian in Washington D.C., the Qualla Arts and Crafts Mutual with additional works being on permanent display in private collections around the world.
