Oil paints, oil bars, and graphite on stretched canvas

Artist’s oil painting rendition based off of a black and white portrait of a Klamath woman captured on film by Edward Curtis in the early 20th century through a JP Morgan commission, The North American Indian, comprised of 500 portraits. This portrait by Ka’ila features red sepia and yellow ochre drawing marks over an off white background with graphite etched drawing marks.
