After developing an interest in art at an early age, Tara pursued fine art studies at Indiana University of PA. She has worked as a graphic designer, painter, photographer and illustrator in Oregon for over 20 years. Tara spends much of each summer painting on site at scenic places along the wild and beautiful Oregon coast, and throughout western Oregon and the Willamette Valley.
During the winter months, she enjoys painting larger works in her studio from her vast collection of reference photos from her regional travels.
I look for the story to tell. I aim to make a connection with the viewer through a shared common experience. I use light and shadow in the composition and design it in a way that energy flows through the scene to create a feeling of depth and dimension. People often tell me they feel as if they can walk right into my paintings.
Tara is a member of the Oil Painters of America, the American Impressionist Society, Maude Kerns Art Center (Eugene), Umpqua Valley Art Association (Roseburg), Oregon Society of Artists, Florence Regional Art Alliance and the Plein Air Painters of Lane County.
