Stephen Stanley grew up in Kansas City, Missouri. After completing a BFA from the Kansas City Art Institute in 1973, he moved to San Francisco where he became an award-winning graphic designer. Relocating to Eugene in 1993, he began writing fiction and illustrating. He was the first person to win both the Writers of the Future and Illustrators of the Future contests. Stephen attends local figure drawing sessions. Retiring after fifty years as a graphic designer, he turned to printmaking, creating in linocut, woodcut and etching. He has contributed to the Emerald Print Exchange for the last four years. Stephen’s prints can be found locally at Tsunami Books.
