Michael moved to Eugene in 1974 and worked at the U of O Museum of Art ( now the Jordan Schnitzer Museum of Art ) for twenty years organizing traveling exhibitions. After leaving the Museum his company, Presentation Design Group, designed exhibitions and displays across the US. Nearing retirement, he coordinated the design and installation of exhibits at the U of O Museum of Natural and Cultural History. In depth learning about evolution, climate change, and deep time had a profound effect on his thinking and art production.
He loves folk art and attempts to create images that are easily accessible but often have layered levels of interpretation. He is an enrolled member of the Citizen Potawatomi Nation and has an abiding interest in native cultures. He listens to public radio, podcasts and reads about cultural and societal issues that inspire his artwork.
