Capsel Rock is an artist from Eugene, Portland and Alaska. The tribal art from his formative years in Alaska has inspired his artistic voice along with the street art culture and the visionary art movement. He resonates with the underrepresented communities of the area due to his times as a young person dealing with time on the streets and the legal system. He pushed to get himself through high school, applying and receiving grants through his art. From these experiences, he feels passionately about leading the upcoming generations of aspiring artists and teaching the youth to become an impactful presence in the community. His professional career started in 2007 with apprenticeships with established mural artists. He started an art business at that time making custom painted clothing, which he sold at events around the Pacific Northwest. He was the founding creator and organizer of an art collaborative group who traveled and exhibited collaborative works at galleries and events. He plans to further his engagements with the community, specifically the youth, through teaching and collaborative mural projects. He is currently based in Oakridge and Eugene.
