Red Rocks, Morrison, CO
4” x 7” | Mixed Media on Paper | Framed
This abstract miniature captures the essence of Red Rocks Amphitheater—not through realism, but through rhythm, color, and memory. A site known for its geological grandeur and musical legacy, Red Rocks becomes here a vivid topography of sound and emotion.
Through layered mark-making and playful color contrasts, I sought to evoke the energy of the amphitheater: bands of saturated red and orange suggest the rock formations; rhythmic dashes and sweeping curves mirror the pulse of live music echoing through stone. The compact format invites intimacy, like a postcard from a sensory experience—equal parts landscape, vibration, and memory.
Part of my ongoing exploration of place through abstraction, this piece celebrates how music and nature converge to create something uniquely alive.
