Painted in Santiago Chile where the artist lived between 1998 and 2001. Inspired by the poetry and coastal home, Isla Negra] of Chilean Nobel-prize winner Pablo Neruda.
Pablo Neruda is one of the most celebrated poets of the 20th century, known for his passionate love poems, political manifestos, and profound reflections on the human experience.
I connected with his love of the sea and painted these in my Lo Barnechea studio.
Isla Negra
Located in the shores of Isla Negra [about 72 miles from Santiago], this was Pablo Neruda’s favorite of his houses and his most intimate piece of work. Built in 1937, it was a place for isolation and inspiration for the poet, enjoying the company of his wife Matilde Urrutia and the peace that the ocean brings.
