Coronado Boathouse with View of Tent City (1930)

Bess Gilbert painted this oil on canvas in 1930. Gilbert was born in San Diego on January 21, 1879. She was a pianist as well as a painter, having attended the San Diego Academy of Fine Arts. She hosted artists such as Anna Pavlova and Marian Anderson at her home, which is now located in Heritage Park. She died January 4, 1964. Gift of Dr. Blossom Sanger in Memory of her husband, Dr. George Sanger, 2015.
