Penelope
- Bronze sculpture
- Michael Stutz
Located in Tidelands Park along the bike path, Penelope stands nearly seven feet tall. Penelope represents a figure from the Greek epic poem The Odyssey.
Penelope was dedicated in 2019 at Tidelands Park overlooking San Diego Bay and the San Diego Coronado Bridge despite being first commissioned by the Port of San Diego’s Public Art Program in 2009.
Penelope was previously located on the San Diego Waterfront between Seaport Village and Tuna Harbor. Due to the construction at the waterfront park, Penelope was temporarily placed into storage. The Coronado installation marks the end of a long hiatus for Penelope, with her re-emergence as a beautiful public artwork that can be enjoyed by all who visit Coronado Tidelands Park.
